Assignment: Situated dramatically on an impressive mountainside site, this residence features the bold architectural shapes and building materials that are indigenous to the Southwest. Art of Form’s design for the house orients its primary views to the West to take full advantage of the spectacular Arizona sunsets. Rising from a stepped-back foundation, the building is organized into two cubic volumes. The front elevation features two second-floor, overhanging terraces supported by columns. Constructed of an adobe-like material, the house is contextual to its Pueblo neighbors, but clearly stands on its own as a clean-lined architectural statement. The interiors are defined by strong architectural shapes that echo the forms of the building exterior.
